6/12/09: Academy News:
I would like to congratulate Seth Smith who received his brown belt on Saturday, June 6th from me with the blessing of Saulo and Xande!!! Great job Seth and only one more step; Black Belt!!

On June 20th we will have a cookout and pool party after class at Chris's house. We will then head to Jeds to watch Diego's fight free on Spike TV. Hope you can make it.

Also on June 20th, Jeremy Harris has 4 guys fighting in MMA in Lima; they are Waseam Dananoui, Adam Foust, Chris Klein and Brian Littlefield. Good luck and if you want to check out the fights get a hold of Jeremy for all the info (on myspace: srjjatriangleclub).

Kelly Hymore has opened up a brother academy only two miles from our Toledo academy. It is all NO GI consisting of MMA, Submission Wrestling, and Fitness and Kids classes. The cost is very reasonable and the facility is 2500 square feet. Go to BADDOGFC.com for all the info!!

We will be competing in Toledo/Maumee at the Ohio Buckeye Border Challenge on Saturday, July 25th; the academy will be closed as well. The tourney is both GI and NO GI and four Black Belts will be in a mini tourney. Go to mma.tv - events - to register or for all the info (cost is only $55.00 for both divisions).

We have also changed our schedule. The students and I are very happy with the changes. We added an advanced class and expanded our kid's class to twice week. Please check our schedule online for more details.

Remember, a Black Belt is a White Belt who never quits!!

Until next month…

6/12/09: Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu News (formally SRJJA):
We would like to thank all those who competed at the Worlds!! Standouts include: Rafael Lovato Jr - 3rd place in the Black Belt Heavy, Leticia Ribeiro - 1st place Brown/Black Light Feather, Penny Thomas - 1st place - Brown/Black Medium Heavy and 3rd place in the Open, Zak Maxwell - 1st place Brown Feather and Ana Carolina Vidal (Carol) - 3rd place in the Brown/Black Light weight.

Xande was injured and could not compete; he is recovering and will be training again hard in a month or so. He is able to work on a lot of things already, good luck in your training and recovery bro.

The Gracie Humaita Women placed 1st once again in the Team Division - Great job ladies!!

To view all the competitors who placed go to ibjjf.org.

Our annual tourney will be the second weekend in October 10th in San Diego. Please plan for a great trip to sunny California!! Note: changed do to the ADCC tourney in Spain.

On June 20th, Diego will be facing off against Clay Guida. It will be the main event, free on spike TV. I am looking forward to this match and think it is a good fight for Diego. I hope with this win, he will be in line for a title shot. This would bring his record to 23-2; and he has fought some tough ass opponents.

To contact Saulo or Xande, go to www.unijj.com (University of Jiu-Jitsu website!!!) .
