Thanks for stepping up to the plate!! With each tournament
you will get better win or lose; believe me.

be a great tool for us to reference and should be owned
by all students. It is only around 27.00 and is loaded with
great information!!
Diego "nightmare" Sanchez could not fight due a serious
rib injury. This is a tough situation to deal with both
physically and mentally. Diego is a warrior and we know
he will be training and fighting again soon. We will keep
you updated.
Chris will be conducting a purple belt test on November
22nd in Toledo from 2:30 - ??. The first hour will be technique

the area.

On October 25th, we will have some of our team fighting
in the Ultimate Toughman at the Seagate Center in Toledo;
we have 3 fighters from our academy going at it; Jay Wilman,
Craig Hogan and Josh Herod. We have become presenters with
them and this once again interfered with our scheduled BadDog
show. If anyone from the other associations would like to
have some fighters on the card, please contact us; we are
helping match make the fights. I would guess there will
be at least 3000 people in attendance.
We are planning on competing in the Ohio Grappling Challenge

last time and should do the same this time. We will be driving

10/14/08: SRJJA News: Xande made his MMA debut in Japan
on September 28th, fighting in the SENGOKU show. His opponent
was Takashi Sugiura from Japan and Xande won by TKO in the
third round. This is a big step in his MMA career. Congrat's
to him and Team Saulo for yet another victory!!
We would like to congratulate Dean Hersche for receiving
his black belt from Saulo and Xande on Oct 4th - at the
Annual Touney. Dean has a school by Winsor Canada. This
is something to be proud of the rest of his life; this is
no easy task, but like they say it was a hell of a journey
and it is not over yet!! Congrat's bro; well deserved!!
FYI - Saulo also has one of his black belts teaching in
Toronto now; his name is Jorge Britto (torontobjj.com) and
he is from Rio. Check both Dean and Jorge out if you are
ever in the great white north.
Saulo's book, Jiu Jitsu University, can be pre ordered at

The 10th anniversary of the SRJJA was a great success. The
meeting and annual tourney were well represented by all.
There is so much info to talk about so I recommend you go
to my website toledojiujitsu.com and click on SRJJA Academies
and go to each website. I am sure they will have their own
news posted and it will be more detailed then this newsletter.
The level of competition has improved every year; can't
wait until next year!!!
Diego "nightmare" Sanchez will be going to battle with Tiago
"pitbull"Alves in the UFC on October 25th in Chicago. This
is a great opportunity for us in the Midwest to support
and see the UFC live. With this win, it would be hard to
imagine that Diego would not be up for a title shot; remember
Diego is undefeated since training with the champs.
9/15/08: Academy News: Chris is planning on going to San
Diego from September 15th - 22nd. Saulo and Xande have invited
him to visit and watch/help with the training and teach
some classes for them. It will be a great opportunity for
him to learn new techniques as well, we can't wait to see
what he brings back.
On October 25th, we will have some of our team fighting
in the Ultimate Toughman at the Seagate Center in Toledo.
We have become presenters with them and this once again
interfered with our scheduled BadDog show. If anyone from
the other associations would like to have some fighters
on the card, let me know; we are helping match make the
fights. I would guess there will be at least 3000 people
in attendance.
Kelly Hymore, our boxing/mma coach has been teaching 3 days
per week in Toledo. Kelly's understanding of stand up fighting
is simply awesome. The class is a go at your own pace. You
can do drills and learn or can go into the ring/cage and
bang when you are ready.
Remember, a Black Belt is a White Belt who never quits!!
